I was captivated by the great privilege of travel when I was seventeen years old. I went on an EF Tour to Paris and knew I wanted to study abroad as soon as the rich sweetness of a nutella crepe touched my lips in the Latin Quarter. It all spun out from there. I did study abroad two years later in La Rochelle, France which then made me want to backpack. I was sure to save a little money of my own during school and after securing a hostel volunteer gig in Budapest I was off once again. I hung out in the small, low-key hostel for two months, meeting people from all over and having the summer of my life. I was humbled by the wealth of travel experience some of the guests brought and was inspired by others. One of those inspirations was to hitchhike, an endeavor which filled me with nervous excitement. This adventure soon came to fruition in France where I hitchhiked through fifteen cities in France over the course of three weeks or so. It’s been eight years and I often still look back on this experience with a fond nostalgia. The journey really solidified a love for travel which I took to the next level by quitting my job and moving to Ningbo, China (not without a little Euro trip round two in between). I arrived to Ningbo in 2019 and you-know-what happened a year later. Thankfully, I was able to visit home at the end of 2019 because afterwards, during you-know-what I didn’t make it home for nearly three years. I spent a long time at home and even got a taste of Africa after closing the China chapter which I soon reopened in Vietnam where I have been for the past two years. The last ten years have been filled with nothing but fortune as I’ve gotten to visit thirty countries and countless cities while living out one of my life’s true passions.
